I know in MY timeline, I had seen posts from women and people of color saying, hey, you should look more closely at this guy, there are red flags all over the place. And we should have listened and heard them. If the left made a mistake here, it was in not listening to the people with learned experience. 4/ #USPol #politics

Finally, this experience should help us learn to recognize infiltrations of the progressive movement more quickly. We have been burned in Arizona, in Pennsylvania and now in Maine. At least in Maine, the discovery was made prior to the election. We won't have to find out we elected a Republican in disguise when they start voting for fascists. 5/end #USPol #politics

@troy_frizzell@mstdn.social "The left rejected him immediately once his closet full of skeletons became known" is simply not true. Part of the left did so, way back. While others kept defending him against the SS tattoo scandal, the rape fantasies scandal, the He-wanted-to-kill-people-in-Iraq-scandal. The entire left SHOULD have rejected him months ago, when all these skeletons were already obvious. So why do you write that, while knowing (as you also write) that many women and people of colour warned everyone about Platner? Aren't we part of "the left" too? Because it seems like, once again, only white men are seen as the real left whereas we are just Cassandras from the outside.
