Having watched some true crime TV, I think the best way to prevent yourself from ever getting murdered is to do the following: Never 'light up rooms' when you enter. Never give the impression that you'd give anyone the shirt off your back. All murder victims seem to have fulfilled these conditions. I should add. If in the USA, never be an 'aspiring rapper'. That seems pretty much to be a death sentence.
