Self-signed certificates is so easy to install on Android, a lot of developers refuse to even allow for manually verifying self-signed certificates. Just install the cert! It's so easy that developers don't even bother to tell people how to do it and all I find when I search the web is how difficult it it, particularly after google tighten in on the possibility. Security concerns, right. I get that. That's why I've used an unofficial, hacked #AntennaPod fork, outdated but supporting self-signed certificates. It would probably be better if I hosted gPodder on somebody elses machine, maybe even in a different country so it's really hard to understand the intricasies of the law. But then I could at least use a third party certificate authority instead of everything being in-house. Literally. Hosting on my own server at home, behind a closed VPN? Insecure. sigh #AntennaPod and #Wallabag on Android.
