@Tarnport@mastodon.green Fedi will have to be our patio. First of all, everyone reads books how they want. Cinematic approach might work for some. It does remind me, though, that when I was younger and I would read a book and then saw the movie, I would often think, “Oh no, I imagined it wrong!” However, I got this behind me. I imagine however I want now. I would also stick to the order of the book first then followed by the movie. But a friend told me that when you do the other way around, you actually get more details. Movies cut off stuff. They have to. As for Major Briggs, I always recall when he tells his son his vision. “In my dream, I was on a veranda of vast estate. A palacio of fantastic proportions.” And this made me see him as a warm person. Judge Holden is a character larger than life, and it's probably hard to find someone who would fit 1:1. But then, he doesn't have to. When watching movies, I like to catch some characters and think, “Oh gee, now that's a Holden here.” I think the movie's Anton Chigurh was more holdenish than his book counterpart. In the book, he was this small-time sociopath. Still dangerous but not so ominous. But Javier Bardem's interpretation really made him this ominous agent of fate.
