@yngmar@social.tchncs.de, you can sort of deduce the size from the fly sitting on it in the second photo. I've removed it already to avoid my cat from discovering it, so no more photos will be available at this time. Google Lens told me it might be a rat or a hedgehog, but I too suspect it could be a marten or one of its relatives as well. The missus is already suggesting we buy a camera to investigate. 😀
