As climate catastrophe ravages continents & destroys livelihoods we will see much more of this. The racist Right’s obsession with border control is often sold as a package that includes distrust or denial of the science of climate change. It is actually grounded in the opposite. The plundering classes have long recognised that as more lands & communities are despoiled the lives of the privileged few will be spent in gated environments, served by workers who are effectively stupefied with distraction & denial. Disaster capitalism meets bunker mentality.
