TIL that in Mastodon any post with a #hashtag will show up in search results for that hashtag regardless of whether the user opted into search, but posts containing the word "full-text" (no hash sign) will only appear in searches for "full-text" if the user opted into search. That seems like a very reasonable pattern to me. I wonder how many other Fediverse platforms follow it?
