Signal is as good as you can get without building your own infrastructure. I built my own. It's here: https://TheUnCloud.co/
Now that thing is not comparable to Signal, BUT it has no accounts. When you close the window the content is gone. It uses WebRTC. Different use case.
The right architecture is the one where there is nothing to seize.

@mike805@noc.social @ohir@social.vivaldi.net @rootschange@kolektiva.social @scathach@stereophonic.space if you scale up large enough, the govt will eventually come knocking and if you say "i got no records" then they say "then we're shutting you the fuck down" the only option is something like signal, which only saves the absolute bare minimum of records there is no better deal or: roll your own sooper sekret bespoke shit with a group of friends as ohir indicates but that will never scale because as soon as you get big, you attract the attention of govt
