Dollar bills are very nice, but most people toss the glossy fliers in the trash, they sneer at well produced commercials.
But if Darlene who knows EVERYONE is so excited about you running and tells everyone they will vote for you just to avoid seeing Darlene sad on the day after the election.
The problem some democrats have is they just aren't the kind of candidates that make people excited like that. We can think of some of the reasons why can't we? But it can change.

Trump probably got a certain portion of his votes this way. This won't be as true in the future. It's shocking how much people vote based on things like "well Bob likes the guy, I guess I'll vote for him" Drives me nuts as a political junky, but this is... more normal.
