You know what’s the dumbest thing about Adam Howard a.k.a. LinuxIsBest or any of the dozens of accounts he created? His insistence that he’s actually providing useful added value to the community. He complained about all the requests to take down his list of GazaVerified accounts because “it’s censorship!” His “people must know!” anti-censorship approach went as far as mirroring his infamous “Gaza Verified scam acccounts” list also to torrents and Limewire, as if it was the unredacted Epstein files. Except that…you know how to retrieve the full liste of #GazaVerified accounts, always up-to-date? curl -s 'https://gaza.onl/api/v1/accounts' | jq -r '.[].fqn' 🤯 We have talked over video calls with trusted mediators with people in Gaza. With some of them we’ve had several calls with different people from the team. We have checked that their IP addresses (used to register to gaza-verified, on their instance, or to access the archive or other websites we manage) belong indeed to residential or mobile subnets in Gaza. Some of the verification video calls have also been published on Vimeo, and at least in one case the team also managed to evacuate a girl in Gaza, who is now in Milan. In some cases we’ve seen their IDs (when it was a functional requirement) and talked to other family members too. But sure, go trust an anonymous guy instead. A loser who initially had doubts about us, and when presented with more evidence, instead of acknowledging his mistakes and apologizing like others did, he just decided to double down on his dumb accusations. Someone who has so much spare time at hand that apparently they create a new account on a new instance every day just to say that we’re a scam. Someone who, by their own admissions, works or worked at Meta (although I’m not aware of any Adam Howard who has ever worked there), but who feels like a simple list of accounts that can be retrieved with a simple call to an open API endpoint is such valuable infomration that it should be replicated on Codeberg, torrents and Limewire. I’ve met many losers and idiots in my life, but very few ever managed to condense within the same person so much imbecility, stubborness, incompetence, lack of empathy, first-world privilege, and an uncomfortable will to fight for a lost cause for so long and through so many means that highlights a genuine lack of any other purpose in life. People have decided to disappear from the Internet for public humiliations order of magnitude smaller than those that LinuxIsBest has (rightfully) endured. I don’t know why such an idiot is still on the Internet. The answer, perhaps, is because he’s a true unprecedented idiot. p.s. I won’t join the choir of those who demand his Codeberg repo to be taken down. After all, the CSV file he uploaded there is just an (incomplete) version of what anyone can pull from the Gaza archive API. There’s nothing compromising in there, the list of our friends in Gaza is already public. And everyone with a functioning brain who has read at least a couple of his phrases can easily conclude that he’s an idiot. But I definitely join the choir of those who call for this pathetic human being to just disappear from the Internet for a while, after collecting so much well-desereved hate and being publicly named and shamed.
