@syn@plasmatrap.com Interesting question. Sadly linguistics is only a special interest of mine, so I can't say. Therefore, take what follows with a grain of salt. We do have unicode and the established standards which all of us (generally) follow as well as keyboards that support the given language. Then again, text messages have accelerated this shortening and abbreviation. Grammatical rules differ between online spaces and IRL spaces. We may even get new symbols based on these new abbreviations. I mean we have emotes, which replace our old tries to add tone indicators to languages (go look it up, it's hilariously bad). On the other hand, most of this is not very accdssible and we might move away from the SMS abbreviations for that sake.
