@catsalad@infosec.exchange @SecureOwl@infosec.exchange True story. I was interviewing for an IT job at UO after leaving the Army in 1995. The last leg of the route to the interview paralleled a river. Was going over interview type things in my head when suddenly (it’s always suddenly) a salmon falls out of the sky and hits the road 10 feet (or so) in front of my car. I drive over it, look into the rear view mirror, and indeed there is a Salmon flopping around on the road behind me. Started laughing. Laughed all the way to the interview. Tried to keep my composure as it started but couldn’t. Started laughing again and just had to get it all out. Had the whole room in stitches. Got the best personal call back ever. Everyone wanted to hire me but HR vetoed it because I “lacked work experience.” They could have hired a vet and a salmon connoisseur. Their loss, but at least we had the Salmon moment to remember.
