A stroke can lead to cavities in the brain where tissue has died. A new rat study injected these cavities with extracellular vesicles collected from astrocytes in vitro, and bound to a porous hydrogel. Immune cells, blood vessels, and nerve tissue then migrated into the cavities, and the rats regained lost motor function.
