It could just be that people enjoy good storytelling, regardless of the “wokeness” … or the absence of it. Another movie that did quite well was The Backrooms and if it had “wokeness” either in its casting or in its storytelling, I didn’t really notice. The lead was a black male, but it didn’t feel contrived or shoved in to tick off some casting requirement from Hollywood, so…shrug.
