Jesus was all about becoming ungovernable. He said to stop using money and avoid storehouses so the tax man will have nothing to easily take. To let go of the temples and leaders so they cannot be used as tools of control. To use the laws of the oppressor against them I don’t think Jesus would be generally pro FOSS, because it’s primarily funded by and taken advantage of by corporations. He was a revolutionary, he’d probably be going around helping people live outside the system

Geez, Picard Maneuver’s comment was bad enough, but you just had to go and twist the knife! At least copyleft-licensed (e.g. GPL), as opposed to permissively-licensed (e.g. BSD), Open Source software is about as anti-corporate as it’s possible to get. That’s why Apple switched from bash to zsh, for example: they wanted to get rid of the copyleft. It’s also why stuff like Alpine Linux is a dangerous trend. I think Jesus would be very fond of copyleft licensing, as it is specifically designed to withhold control from those who would exploit it and thus keep users ungovernable.

  • He said to stop using money “Render unto Caesar” seems to be the opposite. He said to stop owning shit.
