Enjoying a cool, but very quiet and pleasant evening in the northernmost Ontario 🇨🇦 town reachable by rail, Moosonee. Tomorrow, a boat trip to James Bay.
We arrived bit diasarrayed by a cell phone malfunction, but a friendly local helped us get in touch with our hosts. Turned out he was the former band CEO. Chi-miigwetch, Gary. Seems friendly is the norm here.
The work on the rail line is impressive. By next winter the whole trip up from Toronto will be by rail.

I came to Moosonee looking forward to finding out who lives here and why. You could ask why of any 🇨🇦, to be fair. Today I feel like I have a bit of an idea. We took a trip out to James Bay with Todd Rueben and learned heaps about not only traditional ways but how those have adapted and evolved with time. I'm left feeling very impressed by this small community.
