@DavidM_yeg@beige.party this is exactly what Edward Bernays figured out a century ago. He literally wrote the book on manufacturing consent - ‘Propaganda.' He was Freud's nephew and he invented the modern PR industry. There’s a great old PBS doc called 'The Century of the Self' that traces how his ideas shaped everything from consumer culture to politics.
