IN OTHER NEWS need to vent about #shoes #clothes #fashion and the #sewing industry 1. why the fuck are sizes US9 EU40 and up still considered too big for women’s shoes? in the vast miasma of consumerist fashion, there are still not that many options for people like me 2. this includes all clothes including sewing patterns. they’re made for 5' 6" women and a size 8. are women outside #nyc that tiny? i basically have to adjust all patterns for height and my tits and ass. talking about nyc…

@blogdiva@mastodon.social Famine in your ancestry will generally cause your body to store up more potential energy (fat), so you can survive the next famine. Better nutrition will make a larger skeleton. Bigger skeletons need bigger shoes. Humans generally get larger each generation, not smaller. But fashion doesn't. Especially since we transferred from buying clothes made for us based on our measurements (whether that's homemade or atelier made) to off the rack clothing where everything is a set range of sizes. The fashion industry has no monetary incentive to update these standards because the majority of people no longer have the skills to make clothes at home and nudity is not permitted in most public spaces.
