I just stumbled across "infection alternate universes" where people write fan fiction involving some kind of strange pandemic, seemingly usually supernatural, affecting a franchise. It runs the gamut of MLP's "Divine Swamp Fever" with body horror to silly like The Simpsons where everyone suddenly has Homer's face once they see this card from a board game ("The Dud" card). There are too many rabbit holes, man.
