@blogdiva@mastodon.social @lauren@mastodon.laurenweinstein.org I'd argue that Ilsa doesn't even aspire to be tough art, though, it was lurid sleaze from the jump. And given Salò's source material, you could argue that the film is an attempt to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but I think comparing Ilsa and Salò is akin to comparing "I Spit On Your Grave" and "Irreversible".
