Another thing that springs to my mind because I watched a youtube video and did a wiki binge about the history of HIV yesterday: Modern medicine has turned HIV from "excruciating death sentence" to "minor inconvenience of having to take a pill once a day" within 40 years. If that collapses, 41 million people alive today would die just of this one particular disease. Other diseases that'll turn from "practically solved" to "death sentence" include cancer and type 1 diabetes. RE: https://mastodon.social/@carapace/117032944819896448
