At the Doors of the Takiya… Dignity Is Humiliated
The Takiya… is not merely a pot of food. In the eyes of many hungry people, it has become a symbol of one of the greatest disappointments of this war.
It was meant to be a door of mercy, but it has often turned into another scene of humiliation. People stand in long lines under a sun exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, not because they choose to, but because hunger has taken away their ability to choose.
And this child… should not have started his morning standing in a queue waiting for a meal. He should have been at school, playing with his toys, or in his mother’s arms. But the war stole his childhood, then left him waiting for a plate of food that may not be enough, and may not reflect the dignity every human being deserves.
The tragedy is not only hunger itself, but that people’s suffering has, in some cases, become a door for exploitation. Money donated by compassionate people to ease this pain may not always fully reach those it was intended for.
If you want to stand with Gaza, do not let your donations become merely numbers sent away. Make sure they reach trusted hands and the families who are truly facing hunger, so that children’s tears do not become a means of profit, and donations do not become gains made at the expense of empty stomachs.
In Gaza today… people no longer dream of a dignified life or abundant tables.
All they dream of… is a clean meal that preserves what remains of their dignity.
