I like #art. My dad used to drag us through every museum he could find when I was a kid, and I remember being bored out of my gourd. But at some point, somehow, I found my own way to it. The way he consumed art (and I think "consume" is an appropriate term here) was that he'd read voraciously, study each exhibit, then lecture about it. Scholarly. That never worked for me. I can only feel my way into a piece, approaching it from an experiential, emotional angle. So anyway, let's talk fascism.

  • Say what you will about Mussolini, but he understood the importance of aesthetics in 20th century politics. The Nazis were by and large uncultured brutes and zero rizz weirdos, but the Italians knew how to fucking sell this shit. How to dress up hate (literally) to look sexy. Well, sexy to a certain kind of person. And I think that's where art comes in, because I think how a person relates to art directly connects with how susceptible they are to fall for fascist aesthetics.
