@nixCraft@mastodon.social To be honest, I don't know what to make of these numbers. I've been a Linux user since Mandrake and Slackware had some impact before that, when a stack of floppies was the installation source. Part of me worries that these are bots running on a Linux system with a smarter method of agent identifiers. Part of me wonders if this is a backlash against Microsoft constantly advertising on Windows 11, among other annoyances. Maybe it's Steam deck and Steam Machines changing the landscape of desktop systems. I'd love to really know what is driving this. It looks real enough and correlates against increases in other stats, such as the Steam survey.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social Seeing that OS X adoption is noticeable as well. M$ has lost its dominance and is fully focused on their corporate customers. I wish M$ luck navigating these turbulent times. Edit: Looks like you broke the website.

@nixCraft@mastodon.social I did see this, but someone also pointed out that where Linux doesn't really have telemetry, it's hard to be sure if it's true.
