@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net I just did an experiment. I looked on the app for a local big box retailer here in Tennessee. If I am only worried about obtaining a smartphone and laptop computer, lowest prices I can find, I can walk out of the store today with both for about $280 plus taxes, which would probably bring the total to about $315. That is an unlocked Motorola Android phone ($130) and a very basic Intel N150 laptop ($150). I could when walk out with a smartphone for as low as $50 if I don’t mind it locked to some prepaid wireless provider. I’m too used to my 4-year old iPhone and 8-year old business laptop to do so, but I *could*.
