It's so odd to me, to see many smart people re-debating and re-iterating the thinking about #AI, which I and so many others in the #SFF community worked through after Vinge published his #Singularity paper in 1993. But today they go further and take it far more literally than we ever did. I suppose this is because AI is current and immediate, while it was pie in the sky to us. But really?
