Final hatch count for this round, 16 chicks! Not too bad (though not amazing). I'm really delighted by the range of colours and patterns!
A few more eggs in the incubator should start hatching in 4 days, and that'll be it for the incubator this season. Should get a lot of use out of it next spring.

I thought the hatching was done, but one more chick hatched in that batch of eggs late yesterday! And it has the biggest poofhead I've ever seen on a chick! My kids' bus driver the first year we lived here bred Polish tophat chickens. I thought they were ridiculous, but my kids loved them, so we bought a few. After the first winter, they were the only chickens with no frostbite damage on their combs. So now we have lots of poofhead genetics in our flock - perfect Saskatchewan chickens.
