@noisytoot@berkeley.edu.pl I agree with you and I'm all for replaceable interoperable parts
it's about expectations: I expect a phone to die (via river, being stolen, sniffed by cops) so I backup often, but the threat never comes. vs: I expect computers to be safe, so I chill out, but they betray me and randomly die without cause (as famfo is dealing with rn)

@noisytoot@berkeley.edu.pl and that's despite the discourse around eMMCs dying - I've never had a phone's storage chip fail. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I'm comparing it to the countless HDDs, SSDs, and NVMEs I've had die for computers.
