Another thought: this is probably where much of the polarisation comes from. Spotify hollowed out the economics of music, Meta monetised our social lives, Netflix and cloud services consume vast infrastructure. We accept all of it because we enjoy the product. People rarely judge technology by its consequences alone. They judge it by whether they get value from it. Their convenience is progress; someone else’s use of AI is suddenly a moral crisis. Yes this is whataboutism, I don’t care :-)
