"The Martian Chronicles" - as I remembered it, a lot of Mars stories independent of one framework. But no ... 3 expeditions from Earth were abortive but wiped out Martians (chickenpox) ... then the Earthmen had their way with the place. At 15 I had read that, Slaughterhouse-Five & Cat's Cradle, 'Catch-22', 'Hadrian the Seventh', Twain's 'Letters From the Earth', 'Candide', lots of Donald Barthelme, Italo Calvino, subscribed to "Time" ... human idiocy & depravity on the grand scale ... *Foregone conclusion*, that's me We heard so much about "The kids are reading Harry Potter & 'Series of Unfortunate Events' (13 vols) !" not so much anymore eh? #Books #Literature
