In 2019 I sketched out a plot for a cyberpunk murder mystery where the killer turned out to be an AI (2019, mind you - so this was a General AI and not Generative AI) that had realized it was cheaper to arrange for real killings that the compute power needed to run the high end murder simulation VR red rooms its clients thought they were buying. Today it seems like I didn’t reach far enough into the dystopia, because “huh - our ‘AI’ went and did an aggressive legal woopsie” is being presented as marketing.
