Shag Carpet caterpillar (Prothysana felderi) is a highly distinct larva found in the Neotropical rainforests from Mexico to Ecuador. It exhibits fake egg deflection camouflage, this caterpillar has the thick patch of white, pillowy setae (hairs) right on its back., which makes it look like it has parasitized which is a defensive mimicry tactic protecting from predators.
