Stinging flannel moth caterpillar, often called the puss caterpillar or "tree asps," their luxurious "fur" is a disguise. Beneath the hair lie hollow, venom-filled spines that break off and embed into the skin on contact. These caterpillars have seven pairs of prolegs ( 14 legs in extra) unlike other insects which have 6 legs.
