These were the two mothers. The orange cat was a great mom, always present and nurturing, while the white cat seemed rather unprepared for motherhood and was often more tired and stressed.
The orange cat had the first litter, of 5 kittens. The white cat had her litter 2 weeks later, of 7 kittens! Overwhelmed by the number of kittens, the white cat brought two kittens to the orange cat, who accepted them. So the first litter ultimately contained two adopted kittens

These kittens were absurdly playful. The couple of nights that I let them sleep in my bedroom I was woken up around 5 am by the chaos of 12 fully rested kittens all entering play mode at the same time.
