i've been moved by mathematician hung-hsi wu's work creating an introductory mathematics curriculum emphasizing the following principles: 1. Precise definitions are essential. 2. Every statement must be supported by reasoning. 3. Mathematical statements are precise. 4. Mathematics is coherent. 5. Mathematics is purposeful. his work includes pedagogy books starting with zero prior student knowledge up to calculus and linear algebra. he writes out a path of mathematical reasoning that sidesteps the mistakes in common textbooks. i want to be able to teach people math and this seems like the best work to learn from. ideally i would keep consistent practice of working through these books and after a while pick up some students. in a perfect world the students would be interested in learning from a new version of introductory math that doesn't suffer from explanatory gaps. introductory physics has explanatory gaps but not introductory math.
