@emilyskidsister@hachyderm.io some years back I saw people who think that memory safety is bad because it enables hard to break trusted computing platforms, and that's bad because you then can't easily jailbreak your hardware to install your own software. I think they've identified a real problem (you should be able to control the software on hardware you own) and reached a conclusion I find untenable (software should be purposely vulnerable to allow tinkering). Since then I'm not really surprised by any takes.
