Fuel for the outrage machine. Bega Valley Shire Council just chucked the Merimbula Muslim community out of their premises. They paid their rent, they held gatherings, plenty of which involved non-Muslims, and they prayed five times a day. It was completely inoffensive and brought together people of all faiths and none; basically a community centre with twenty minutes of prayer a day. The Council won't say *why* they chucked them out beyond saying they've deemed it a place of worship. The State government is saying "no comment". The power they used to kick out these people is very recent, and a direct line can be drawn from the Bondi shooting to those powers to this absolute dick move. One wonders what would have happened if it had been Jewish people, or Christian people, who had set up such a community centre.
