The UTF-8 to UTF-16 and UTF-16 to UTF-8 conversions in the simdutf library use large lookup tables. Mere throughput benchmarks don’t measure how the perf of other stuff is affected by (at least parts of) the tables ending up in L1 cache and evicting something else. I fail to find a blog post characterizing the performance impact in an application context, e.g. in Chromium or WebKit. Does such a blog post exist?
