#DoItRightRoadTripWhite Off the Beaten Path Thursdays: US Route: 52 State: North Carolina County: Surry (92% huWite) Restaurant: Barney's Cafe (https://places.singleplatform.com/barneys-41/menu?ref=...) Guess what? We're going to mark out here, and do some touristy kitschy eating today. If you're taking US routes instead of the interstate, you're probably old enough to remember when The Andy Griffith Show first aired. So why not stop off in Andy's real hometown of Mount Airy (which Mayberry was based on) and eat at Barney's Cafe? Sure, Barney Fife couldn't survive policing today's cities. His weight would not have been enough to lawfully restrain George Floyd with a police standard subdual method. But nostalgia's calling our names, baby! Though it's counting on memberberries to get your foot in the door, their prices are very reasonable. They've got a pimento cheese burger that sounds and looks delicious, if you've never experienced that culinary creation before. Stop in the show's museum while you're in town, then stop by Pilot Mountain for some great overlooks. But don't stop too long. I saw a lot of Mexican restaurants there when using Google Maps. Until next time! RT: https://poa.st/objects/a4ca0910-27c1-4bbc-8708-ad0abdda59ed
