"but jux, aren't colour bass and melodic riddim the same thing?" nOoo. the two genres are closely related, but colour bass focuses on more varied sounds and tends to keep drops fresh all throughout, not relying on constant repetition. melodic riddim is riddim with a focus on melodic/harmonic elements, it keeps the characteristic riddim repetitive drops. the basses in melodic riddim also have a more "riddimy" characteristic
"but jux... isn't that future riddim?" ALso no. future riddim isn't necessarily melody/harmony focused, but when it is, it tends to be more focused on actual melody lines, and it also focuses more on groove and creative sound design. future riddim can also have some more flexibility on the repetition part of riddim. melodic riddim doesn't do that, it's a lot closer to regular riddim in terms of arrangement
...
or at least that's the impression i get from tracks of all 3 genres that i've heard
