I must say, I never really had a problem with Windows11 running on a system with 8gb of ram, though it wasn't as good at running virtual machines as older systems. Ironically, I'm now running Windows 10 as a host on my main machine (Toughpad FZ M1 MK3) and am very happily using my Windows 7 machine 99% of the time on it, with very little done on 10. My Aspire One D270 is doing very well with it's upgraded 4gb of ram and native 64-bit Windows 7, so this news is just a little bit late for me. I suppose, if I were to pull out my Latitude 3120 for some reason, it might matter. Microsoft confirms Windows 11 is a memory hog, promises 8GB RAM PC optimization by end of 2026 https://www.windowslatest.com/2026/08/01/microsoft-confirms-windows-11-is-a-memory-hog-promises-8gb-ram-pc-optimization-by-end-of-2026/
