The United States has already withdrawn several Patriot batteries from Erbil, and will withdraw all of its remaining military forces from Iraqi Kurdistan by September 30th, 2026 The move comes after repeated Iranian drone and missile attacks against U.S. targets in the area, which have become increasingly difficult to defend against.
