Fresh from perverting the beautiful game to allow more commercials (extended half times & drinks breaks), overturning a red card at Trump's request and degrading FIFA's reputation by presenting the warmonger Trump with a made-up bling 'peace' prize, FIFA President Gianni Infantino's Trump-sucking has reached its climax. He's proposed selling 20% of the World Cup business to American venture capitalists, specifically Jared Kushner's brother. The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) unanimously says 'Nah.' Their statement. “As a result of today’s discussion, no Uefa national teams will participate in any Fifa competition for so long as these proposals remain alive, unless this proposal has been abandoned in its entirety and binding assurances have been given that Fifa will never again open its governance or competitions to private ownership,” it read. Kudos to UEFA and Infantino really needs to take a walk. Off a plank, preferably. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/jul/30/uefa-agrees-to-boycott-fifa-competitions-if-world-cup-sell-off-plans-proceed #FIFA #Infantino #UEFA

FIFA has six continental confederations. Three of them have now soundly rejected Infantino's plan to sell 20% of the World Cup to Jared Kushner's brother. CONCACAF -- the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football which includes Canada, Mexico and the United States -- and the Asian Football Confederation have both supported UEFA's stance. With 143 of FIFA's 211 member associations saying no to venture capitalist greed, Infantino's proposal is already dead in the water. Now. Time to replace Infantino. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup-uefa-boycott-fifa-infantino-live-updates-b3025106.html
