transmisogyny is so endemic and normalized that people (cis and trans of all genders) will engage in transmisogynist violence against transfems - withholding access to resources, social isolation, forced feminine labor, outright physical abuse - without even realizing it. they'll proudly proclaim theyve never socially murdered a transfem, even as theyre doing it. because its so easy. its normal. its the default position, and its rewarded. call out the problematic trans girl, get clout for keeping the community safe. that's why you see so many transfems even here on fedi ranting about how even talking about transmisogyny is "divisive" when the real division is between transfems and the people hurting them. because engaging in transmisogyny as a transfem can keep you safe and privileged. ironically, the people who think they haven't or couldn't enact transmisogyny are the most likely to do it. because in their mind theyre not able to do so, and so theyre not on guard for all the normalized violence that they enact every day. we have to fight this, as a community. we have to push back against this and call it out when we see it. the perpetrators need to be stopped, and there needs to be consequences for the bad actors that won't stop. the trans community will not make it through this shit if we keep killing our own people at the drop of a hat, especially when the victims are overwhelmingly the people building community and doing activism and community care.
