@p@fsebugoutzone.org @ug@brain.worm.pink @Tony@clew.lol @EllisDee@wolfgirl.bar Well I don't entirely disagree that they didn't want to change how they held their money, in fact something that frequently gets lost is just how big of a figure monetarily was at stake. Lincoln explored compensated emancipation as Britain had done beforehand, and found that the sum required to reimburse the planters would have basically bankrupted the country thus making it unrealistic to pursue. But it is not as though there was not industry in the South, it was there and growing year over year leading up to the war, so I don't know that you can say that the old guard was unwilling to explore it. LA seems a lot cooler to me than New York does. New Yorkers are really stuffy and uptight, Californians seem more chill. If i had to pick between the two I'd probably pick the Cali people to move in, sadly we mostly get New Yorkers. Also lmao at that airport. I can't imagine how much ill repute the rest of the state of Georgia must feel towards Atlanta.

@eighthbell@freebeerextremist.com @ug@brain.worm.pink @p@fsebugoutzone.org @EllisDee@wolfgirl.bar You're right about New Yorkers - stuffy and insurferable (especially if they are from New Jersey) and honestly california people are pretty chill albeit vegan, but not as crazy as people make them out to be.
