The gap between the Iranian government and the US government is more narrow than Westerners would ever admit. They both have elections that are tightly controlled by an oligarchy. They both have powerful police states. They both have a sham system of managed electoral democracy that exists to legitimize minority rule.
And where the gap is reflects badly on the US. The most significant difference between them is that the US government seeks to dominate the world and assert its rule over humanity, while Iran's government merely seeks to control its own citizens.
The only reason why the US government demonizes one and not the other, is because liberals like the dictatorship of the billionaires and the dictatorship of capital. They are very much diehard authoritarians who believe America is entitled to own the world and who believe that US "judeo christian values" are superior and anyone who says differently is satanic.
I would go as far to say that Iran's government is the lesser evil. Iran does not seek to impose itself on America at all, while America seeks to impose itself on Iran (and the entire world). America is an imperial power, and Iran is most certainly not.
And indeed, Iran is not burning people alive in Gaza the way America is! Iran is not, as far as I know, committing genocide.

I am of the conviction that it is up to the people of Iran to determine their own destiny. It is not the responsibility of any Westerner to tell them how to live, and indeed my only responsibility as a Westerner is to stop my government from making them suffer and stop subjugating them under imperialist tyranny. The only way I can personally help Iranians is to get rid of my own tyrant. By freeing myself I can help others free themselves.
