@wood5y@mastodonapp.uk Counter terrorism police got involved once new evidence came to light over the course of the investigation.
That isn't unusual, given how many lines of enquiry police had in this case.
That could have been anything from a manifesto found, or evidence of an obsession he might have had with Widdecombe, or extremist political writings in his home.
Until he's charged with a terrorism offence, we won't know what exactly it was that got them involved.
