Schwitters eventually let the house to tenants when he left Germany. By that time the Merzbau had already metastasized to transform several rooms.
If you want to visit the Merzbau, you can't. It was destroyed in an Allied bombing raid, bringing the project to an ourobouric fate that couldn't be more appropriate, created and destroyed by war.
Of course, we are also fans of the historical preservation of houses, so the Merzbau presents us with a kind of quandry.

He probably merzed-over some nice details in the original house. But people have certainly done worse things to perfectly good houses, like dropped ceilings, canned lighting, grey LVP floors, and great rooms — at least this was original.
