A better way of wording it would be:

I'm muting conversation of the post. I'm taking some time off from social media like Instagram, and I stayed in Mastodon because it's generally more chill, but this post is kinda overwhelmingly popular, so I'll check it manually instead of getting bombarded with notifications constantly.
