A couple of weeks later, I met with my diabetes clinic nurse practitioner. We discussed weight management and increasing my Ozempic dose. I asked if we could revisit that conversation in the fall because I want to see what I can accomplish through movement first. She agreed.
My goal isn't just about covering 6 kilometres.
It's about improving my mobility, continuing to build my health, and proving that meaningful progress comes from consistency, patience, and showing up even when the journey isn't linear.
So, for my 60th birthday in October, I'm planning to walk 6 km from Bayfront Park to Princess Point and back.
I hope to be joined by a few friends who have believed in me, inspired me, and encouraged me throughout this journey. Having people in your corner can make all the difference.
Looking back, it's remarkable how one decision to get on a bicycle transformed so many aspects of my life. Sometimes the smallest step, or pedal stroke, becomes the beginning of a much bigger journey.
